Touted as the '2016 flagship killer' the world is holding its breath for what could well be a revolutionary product from the OnePlus arsenal and all of us have been waiting for an official word on the specifications of the OnePlus 2 smartphone. Meanwhile, we wrote on our blog about the leaked specs and speculated features of OnePlus Two a few weeks ago. However, a lot a changed since then. OnePlus 2 is smaller in size
During an AMA session on Reddit with the company's team on July 10, 2015, the Chinese phone maker OnePlus confirmed that the size of OnePlus Two will be smaller than that of OnePlus One. In addition, OnePlus 2 will have a 3300 mAh battery, which is almost a 10% increase in capacity over OnePlus One's 3100 mAh battery.
OnePlus 2 has USB Type-C charging port
This means that the cable can be plugged in at either orientation, at both ends. a small but useful addition.
OnePlus Two is faster
OnePlus Two phone will feature a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM under its hood. The LPDDR4 is twice as fast than the previous generation LPDDR3 RAM and consumes even lesser power. This means that you will be able to use power-intensive apps and games without any worry and multi-task all you want.
OnePlus 2 will be sold in three versions
OnePlus Two will come in three versions, with each version supporting different network bands based on the geographical locations. One version will be sold exclusively in China, while the other two versions are targeted at international markets in North America and Europe/Asia.
OnePlus 2 will NOT feature a heart rate sensor
The company has clarified that the OnePlus 2 will not feature a heart rate sensor. Also, the fingerprint sensor will be an actual separate physical sensor, instead of an in-built sensor on the touch screen.
OnePlus 2 to feature a 13 MP camera
The company has given one of its OnePlus Two units to a YouTube reviewer to review its camera specifically. As per the review, the phone consists of a 13 MP front shooter with a wide f/2.0 aperture. The camera app has three modes, ClearShot, HDR and Beauty modes. The camera also utilizes laser focus technology which means that you can take sharper pictures with clear focus.
Update: OnePlus Two is priced at INR 24,999 (64 GB) in India
Another major update has been on the price of OnePlus 2. The phone will cost below $450 (update: Oneplus two launched at the price of INR 24,999 in India on July 27, 2015), which is more than the cost of OnePlus One (priced at INR 22,000 in India). However, the price is still competitive in comparison to flagship models of other major phone brands in the market.
As far as the launch event itself is concerned, the company plans to release a special android app which will enable the viewers to watch the announcement, both in VR and without VR.
