The latest phones in the Nokia Lumia series of smartphones, the Lumia 925 and the Lumia 625, are subtly improved versions of their predecessors. Here’s a top level look at both phones, and what they bring to the table.
The Nokia Lumia 925 is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and has a 1 GB RAM. The device sports a 4.5" AMOLED display that has a screen resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels. But like its predecessor, the Nokia Lumia 920, this phone does not have an expandable memory – it comes with a fixed internal storage of 16 GB (vis-à-vis the Lumia 920’s 32 GB). The device also has an 8.7MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and an LED flash to aid taking pictures in low light conditions. With six physical lenses, Carl Zeiss optics, and a Smart Camera that lets you take Action Shots – a series of continuous moments in one single image, has a Remove Moving Object feature – that lets you remove elements from your picture, and the Change Faces feature – that lets you select expressions across multiple shots to get the perfect expression for each individual in a photograph. These features give photographers a significant degree of control over the final image; which, along with to the phone’s ability to take near point-and-shoot quality pictures, makes it a great choice for the click happy. However, many of these camera specific features were present in previous Lumia series phones as well. The phone also gives you access to a number of Nokia exclusive apps.
The second phone - the Nokia Lumia 625, runs on a less powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The device has a 512 MB RAM, and 8 GB of internal memory space expandable via micro SD card. The phone has a 5 MP primary camera and a front facing VGA camera. The phone is also capable of 1080p video recording. The device’s display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection and also features a high-brightness mode and better readability in sunlight. Like the 925, the 625 also runs the Windows Phone 8 Operating system with the latest Amber updates. While the device isn’t as feature-rich as the 925, it still packs quite a punch. It is also priced much lower than the 925 – the Lumia 925 is priced in the Rs.33,000 range, whereas the Lumia 625 is priced at around Rs.19,000.
